Jason Peter Wood was born on 24 May 1968 in Sutherland, New South Wales, and grew up in Ferny Creek, Victoria, attending Ferny Creek Primary School, Ferntree Gully Technical School, and Boronia Secondary College for his final year. He completed a graduate diploma in innovative service management and a Master of Applied Science at RMIT University, and worked as a police officer before entering politics. [source]

Immigration verified

Wood chaired the Joint Standing Committee on Migration from 2013 and served as Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs (2019-2022). During 2016-2019 he campaigned prominently on law-and-order issues relating to so-called 'African gangs', later saying he had 'no regrets' and rejecting accusations of racism. From 2022 he held shadow responsibility for community safety, migrant services and multicultural affairs.
