Amanda Cohn was born on 5 December 1989; her paternal grandparents were Jewish German refugees who fled the Holocaust. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Latin American Studies, a Bachelor of Medical Studies, a Doctor of Medicine, a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology, a Master of International Public Health, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, having trained at the University of New South Wales Rural Clinical School in Albury-Wodonga. Nuclear & uranium verified

Voted NOE on the second reading of the Uranium Mining and Nuclear Facilities (Prohibitions) Repeal Bill 2025 in the NSW Legislative Council on 6 May 2026 — i.e. voted to keep NSW's 1986 ban on uranium mining and nuclear facilities. The bill nonetheless passed 21–19.

A GP and former rural emergency-services worker, she campaigns for legislated nurse-to-patient ratios, saying 'we know that ratios save lives, they improve working conditions and are also cost saving' and describing the NSW public health system as 'in absolute crisis.'
