Benjamin Cameron Franklin was born around 1972/1973, the child of two school teachers, and grew up in Barham and Coal Point before winning an academic scholarship to Cranbrook School in Sydney. He studied a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, residing at St Paul's College, and his great-great uncle was Banjo Paterson.
