Legalise Cannabis Party MLC and the party's first NSW member, elected 2023. A leading cannabis-reform advocate, he introduced the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Amendment (Regulation of Personal Adult Use of Cannabis) Bill 2023 in the Legislative Council on 29 November 2023, which would let adults possess small quantities of cannabis, cultivate up to six plants and gift cannabis to other adults (debate adjourned at second reading). He chaired Portfolio Committee No. 1's inquiry into the cannabis regulatory framework (appointed 20 March 2024); its final report (20 June 2025) called existing cannabis laws "unjust and ineffective" and recommended abolishing custodial sentences for minor possession and a staged move toward decriminalisation and legal regulated access.
