Nicolette Boele was born on 10 November 1970 and is the daughter of Dutch migrants; she has lived in the Bradfield electorate for much of her life. She attended Gordon East Primary School and Killara High School, then completed an undergraduate management degree at the University of Technology Sydney and a graduate certificate in environment and science from Oxford Brookes University. Before politics she had a career in finance and renewable energy, holding executive roles at the Responsible Investment Association Australasia, the Investor Group on Climate Change, and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. Boele has called twice for a parliamentary inquiry into the AUKUS deal. In a June 2025 interview she said there is 'a muddiness ... between the proposed AUKUS plan and what it's trying to achieve' and that 'if it's deterrence, putting all our eggs into this basket doesn't seem ... a really good strategy', describing an inquiry as a prudent investment.
