Early life & education encyclopedia

Robyn Jane Lambley was born on 26 January 1965 in Grafton, New South Wales, and moved to Alice Springs in 1993, where she was in charge of the hospital's Social Work Department and Aboriginal Liaison and Interpreting Service. In 2000 she and her husband opened the Mad Harry's retail store, and she served as a councillor on the Alice Springs Town Council and was deputy mayor of Alice Springs from 2006 to 2007.

Voluntary assisted dying news report

Independent member and Assembly Speaker Lambley opposes proceeding with voluntary assisted dying in the NT, saying 'I don't think we're ready. Maybe we'll never be ready in the Territory' and 'It will be a disaster... We just need to take it at our own pace,' citing difficulties educating remote Indigenous communities. No recorded vote has occurred. Stated position.

During the August 2024 NT election campaign, the Australian Christian Lobby recorded that independent MLA Robyn Lambley (along with all CLP candidates) supported a review into the medical and surgical care of gender-diverse children; as Speaker she subsequently tabled the ACL's petition (October 2024) calling for the suspension of gender-affirming treatments for children in the NT.

Recorded vote: in November 2022 Lambley, as an independent, voted against Labor's Anti-Discrimination Amendment Bill that removed religious-school hiring exemptions.

Drugs & law and order news report

Lambley (Independent, Araluen) has long pressed for stronger action on crime in Central Australia: she moved a motion for a non-partisan parliamentary crime committee, and was ejected from Parliament for 24 hours during the debate, saying 'we can either continue to go down the path that we're on... and see crime escalate... or we can do something different', and earlier advocated an emergency 8pm-6am youth curfew and said laws must be amended to 'reinstate personal and parental responsibility'. This is a stated position.
