Abortion & reproductive policy verified

Voted against Family First MLC Sarah Game's bill to restrict access to late-term abortions in the House of Assembly on 18 June 2026; the bill was defeated in the lower house 36 votes to 9.

In March 2026 Boyer publicly criticised the SA Liberal Party over a preselected candidate who had made anti-LGBTIQ statements, calling the preselection 'shambolic' and the candidate's views 'shocking' and 'extreme'.

SA Minister for Health and Wellbeing (Malinauskas Labor government), appointed after the March 2026 state election, taking the portfolio from Chris Picton. On ambulance ramping he said 'we always want to see ramping hours decrease, and we are investing in every way possible to help drive that number down' and acknowledged Labor 'didn't achieve what we said we wanted to' on its 2022 pledge to end ramping, while committing to reduce it 'as far as we can.' SA Minister for Education, Training and Skills (2022-2026). His signature policy was the 'off and away' ban on mobile phones in all South Australian public high schools, rolled out through 2023 across all 131 schools with secondary enrolments. He defended it saying 'I knew this was the right policy for our high schools as I had seen up close the damage that distraction and cyber bullying was causing at school' and that bullying can be '24/7 for young people today,' citing preliminary data showing reduced violence and phone-based bullying incidents.
