Mira El Dannawi was born in Lebanon and moved to Australia in 2007 at age 23, subsequently living in Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs; she speaks Arabic, French and English. She holds a certificate and diploma in Early Childhood Education and has been studying a psychology degree. Before entering the South Australian Legislative Council she worked as an early childhood teacher and as assistant director of the Modbury Community Children's Centre. [source]
