Tasmanian Minister for Education (Liberal MLC, since April 2024). Her central policy is the 'Lifting Literacy' agenda mandating structured, explicit, evidence-based literacy instruction - requiring one hour of structured literacy daily in primary schools, with all Tasmanian students to be taught reading in a systematic, explicit way by 2026 - and extending the same model to numeracy, requiring a minimum one hour of structured numeracy instruction daily from 2027. She said schools would leverage the literacy hour 'to add critical math skills as well.'
