Adem Kubilay Somyurek was born on 25 September 1967 in İzmir, Turkey, and moved to Australia with his parents when he was 18 months old. He holds a Master of Arts in Policy and Politics, a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Sociology, and an Associate Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting). Before entering the Victorian Parliament, he worked as a taxi driver and later as a staffer for federal Labor figures, including Senator Jacinta Collins and MP Anthony Byrne. [source]
