Tim Read was born in 1962 in Melbourne. He studied at the University of Melbourne from 1985, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, and later completed a Postgraduate Diploma of Epidemiology (2007) and a PhD (2014) on human papillomavirus and HIV epidemiology. Before politics he worked as a general practitioner and later as a sexual health physician, including as medical coordinator of the HIV clinic at the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre. [source]

Gender & LGBTQ+ policy verified

Greens MP for Brunswick (since 2018) and a medical doctor whose PhD concerned the epidemiology of sexually transmitted infections; he is the Greens spokesperson for Health.
