Alanna Therese Clohesy was born on 21 August 1962 in Sea Lake, Victoria. She worked as a social policy consultant in Adelaide while undertaking tertiary education, later becoming a lecturer at Edith Cowan University's School of International, Community and Cultural Studies while undertaking postgraduate studies covering public policy in women's health, welfare policy and feminist theory. In 2003 she returned to People with Disability Australia, becoming Deputy Director in 2004. [source]
