In the 9 October 2018 surrogacy/ART debate she spoke in favour, saying the bill was "fundamentally about removing discrimination" and that the ability to be a parent had nothing to do with relationship status or sexuality. As Health Minister she said the government was "absolutely committed to" the 2024 surrogacy/ART legislation allowing same-sex couples, single people and trans and intersex West Australians to access surrogacy. In December 2024, responding to Liberal leader Libby Mettam's call to ban puberty blockers, Sanderson's spokesperson said the state had no immediate plans to review gender identity services but would continue monitoring international best practice.

Appointed WA Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation (succeeding Reece Whitby in the March 2025 reshuffle), Amber-Jade Sanderson is overseeing Labor's plan to exit state-owned coal generation (Collie and Muja) by 2030 and build out renewables and transmission. Announcing a $1.4bn grid investment ahead of coal closures she said the 'Clean Energy Link - East is a massive grid expansion for the state, which will deliver enough energy to power around 1 million homes and support industry to access cheaper, cleaner energy.'
