Giddens announced (9 January 2025) a $14.5 million Cook Labor Government juvenile justice package targeting violent young offenders. Measures included trials for young repeat violent offenders within 28 days, immediate review of bail decisions for violent youth offenders, $1 million for tracking technology for offenders on bail, and penalties for responsible adults who fail to report bail curfew breaches. The package also funded a $13.5 million satellite Children's Court (former Armadale Court site) with an additional magistrate and a dedicated therapeutic court. Giddens said 'Every Western Australian has a right to feel safe in their own home,' describing the measures as 'common-sense reforms' delivering 'swifter outcomes for the victims and families of youth crime.'
