Nicholas Staikos was born on 4 July 1986 at Moorabbin Hospital and attended local primary and secondary schools; he is of Greek descent, his family having migrated to Australia in the 1960s and 1970s. He graduated from Monash University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours). He was elected to Glen Eira Council in 2005 at age 19, becoming the youngest person ever elected to that council, before entering state parliament. [source]
